And the winner is…Janet Ivey!
Last night the Mid-South Emmy’s awards ceremony took place in Nashville, TN. Our pageant friend and emcee Janey Ivey was nominated for 2 Emmys, Informational/Instructional Program and Informational/Instructional Series. Janet is the founder, creator and host of a show the airs on Nashville Public Television called Janet’s Planet. A dynamic and fast-paced series of one-to-two minute spots are created for kids ages seven to ten. They focus on scientific and historical facts and events. This was not Janet’s first Emmy. She was honored with her first Emmy 1997 for her roles as co-writer and on-camera talent for The Opryland Kid’s Club Video. She also won an Emmy in the Best Children’s Video Category. In 2003, Janet won another Emmy in the Children’s Educational Category for her Janet’s Planet productions.
Janet has been an emcee for National American Miss for the last 3 years in the states of South Carolina, Tennessee, Oregon, and Kentucky. We are all so proud of her and all of her work to improve the lives of kids!

The other day, Olivia read the label on the back of a ravioli can, and I told my husband she learned that from watching one of Janet’s health spots! (don’t ask why I haven’t taught her about reading labels, yet! oops!)
I have to say how VERY proud of Janet my family is! We have grown to love Janet throughout our journey at National AMerican Miss (5 years ago ,when Olivia was a princess, I believe! WOW! Time flies!) Each year, when our friends and family come to support Olivia, they ALL ask if Janet will be the emcee. We all notice how supportive, funny, and loving she is to EVERY girl who walks across that stage, and honestly she is at the top of our reasons why we do NAM! SHe makes our pageant fun!
My son Sergei goes to sleep EVERY SINGLE NIGHT with his Janet’s Planet CD blaring away…..memorizing the planets and all about them, but also the other songs like One and Only Me! If you have a 5-10 year old in your house, you should certainly get the CD! We love it and I find it so educational and fun!

Congratulations Janet!! I am so happy for you. You were just an amazing Emcee here in Oregon. You really made us (Princess) girls feel special. Your words were inspirational, and I am glad to have met you. Continue doing the great work you are doing, and the best of luck goes out to you. Hope to see again this year in Oregon.
