One of the hardest things about my job is dealing with the stereotypes that exist about pageants. Like every other stereotype that exists, its unfortunate that you have to deal with people passing judgement before they have all the information. People who are unfamiliar with our program immediately thing of thinks like Little Miss Sunshine.
National American Miss is different from any other pageant system. That’s why we have a no make-up rule contestants 12 years old and younger. That’s why we never have and never will have a swimsuit competition. At National American Miss, we pride ourselves on setting the bar higher in every aspect: quality, integrity, production value, professionalism, and providing our customers with quality and value. At National American Miss we emphasis self-esteem, confidence, communication and interviewing skills, and community service.
Here are a few of the things people have to say about our program:

For anyone that is looking for a pageant that will help your daughter to grow into a very confident young lady, this is it. My girls have been participating for 6 years now and have walked away each year knowing a little more about themselves and with more confidence. When my youngest started the evening of the finale ended in tears, but now she has learned to be very graceful and happy for the girls that achieved.
Her self confidence has grown to the point that she was able to present a controversial speech in history class for her assignment. She would not have been able to do this without the skills that she gained through NAM.
The only thing that I can say is I wish I would have known about the pageant several years before Anastacia was invited. Now that we are involved, we look forward to the pageant weekend each year. Not just to see how well the girls may do but to see the friends we have met and to meet new NAM family.
My daughter is very shy and reluctant to try new things. Will rarely talk to anyone other than her closest friends and even would have trouble talking to family members. When we received our first mailing for NAMiss in 2007 I checked out the comments on line and the web site to see what it was about and if there were any issues (scams) with it. My daughter and I were still a little unsure about the event and what we would we do when we got there, but wanted to take a chance. She really needed to come out of her shell. Just to give you an idea about us, we are very organized, diligent and detail-oriented. We are also too critical when people don’t do it right.
I can tell you that the NAMiss was very impressive. They had their t’s crossed and i’s dotted. The staff was excellent and we love the EMCee. The show is done with class and expertise.
Although my daughter has never won, she understands that she is there to build a skill that is needed in todays world. That she is there to meet new people and make new friends and that winning is the best, but it is not better than being a stronger more confident person.
We are very excited to attend our pageant in August 2011, but a little sad that they changed the location because it is much farther away.
