Hello, my name is Matt Leverton. I am the state director for the North Carolina, Georgia, South Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky and Oregon pageants for National American Miss.
On August 18th, 2016 Miss Georgia Teen, Imani Johnson spoke to Veterans and students on behalf of her experiences at the Georgia Girls State summer program, which she attended on a full scholarship presented by the Woodstock American Legion.
Imani was awarded for her accomplishments during her week of study. Imani was also the only young woman from her district the attend this summer program, so it is her mission to get more young women involved in Georgia Girls State program under the Opportunities category of her platform The C.O.N.Q.U.E.R.O.R. Movement.
On November 12, 2016 Miss Georgia Teen Imani Johnson hosted a benefit dinner theatre to raise money for the Habitudes Leadership Curriculum to go to students in India.
The Habitudes Leadership Curriculum is a series of books written by Dr. Tim Elmore that teach students about setting goals, not giving into peer pressure, and learning from failures.
The dinner was sponsored by RRHS Beta Club, KOTRT, Big Girls Catering, and the Cherokee Theater company who performed a play called “Death by Chocolate.”
Here are some pictures of Campbell reading to our local kindergarten class.
The class was studying fairy tales and modern day princesses. Campbell got to talk about what it meant to be a “real princess”…kind…caring…willing to help others.
The new American Girl Doll from Nashville was introduced to the world today. And yes, that’s your 2016 Miss Tennessee Pre-Teen Queen Sophie Jacobson, as one of the human likenesses for Tenney.
National American Miss Team Georgia was busy serving their community this past weekend by preparing, packing and delivering food to children and families in need with an organization called Meals by Grace.
Spearheaded by Miss Georgia Jr. Pre-Teen, Claudia Fether, this team of queens came together with NAM All-American qualifiers, siblings and parents to feed 45 families. Service activities included unloading food from trucks, sorting cans and dry goods, selecting and packing each family’s food needs, creating personalized encouragement cards and delivering the food to each family.
Books donated by Georgia NAM contestants were carefully sorted by age and hand picked to be placed in each family’s box making sure each child was given an age-appropriate book. Delivery was the highlight of the day as children and their guardians anxiously awaited the arrival of their food which will feed their family for an entire week.
Some children even received birthday cakes to celebrate their birthdays in the upcoming week. It was a day of blessings for everyone involved and these amazing young ladies are already looking forward to the next opportunity to serve together representing National American Miss!
