Terricka Holmes, 2010 NAM SC Princess, chose to volunteer her time at the Brian Stokes Residential Care, in Branchville, SC. She devoted her day to the residents and staff at the facility. She began by introducing herself to each and every resident and staff member personally. The residents had just finished eating breakfast so Terricka jumped right in to work and wiped off the tables. She swept the dining room, kitchen, and porch. Terricka also set the tables for lunch with silverware and beverages. When all of the residents were assembled in the dining room, she led them in grace. After lunch, Terricka invited all residents to play BINGO. The first question she was asked was, “Are we playing for prizes?” of course she said yes. A great time was had by all. The residents enjoyed having Terricka around for the day.

Service-Over-Self is a youth volunteer program that encourages youth to get involved in their community and help others. Brianna chose to participate in their Hugs for Horses program for children and young adults with disabilities. During her service she assisted the participants with horseback riding lessons. Brianna walked along beside the horse with Jenna and Jacob. As she walked with them, she tried to encourage them by singing songs with them, and helping them have fun while they were riding. The really cool thing about her volunteer experience is that she learned that she can be a positive influence on other people. It made her feel good to know that Jenna and Jacob had fun while she was helping them. Brianna enjoyed the hugs, and it was very inspiring to her when Jenna told her Mommy that she wanted to be just like Brianna when she grew up. This experience was very motivational to Brianna to inspire her to be the best that she can be so that she can continue to be a person that Jenna can admire. Brianna had such a good time participating in Hugs for Horses and Service-Over-Self. Two of her friends have decided to become a member as well so that they can participate and join in with all of the fun. This is an experience that Brianna will never forget, and she plans to continue serving others like Jenna through the Hugs for Horses program for a long time.

Kelsey Nyman 2010 South Carolina Teen Queen began an organization called Dance Escape!

“Dance Escape” allows Kelsey to give abused, neglected, and abandoned children the opportunity to express themselves through the art of dance. She is teaching them social cultural dances and hopes to further develop into other forms of dance. Kelsey is also spending time with my students in order to build a relationship with them and impact their lives in as many ways as she is able to.

As of now she is mainly working with two children’s homes in South Carolina: Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia S.C. and The Children’s Attention Home in Rock Hill, S.C. She has spent two hours at Epworth Children’s Home volunteering at their Halloween Carnival and hope to begin teaching them about dance as soon as her project is approved by the activity coordinator. Kelsey has also spent two hours at The Children’s Attention Home; teaching the girls the electric slide, cubic shuffle, the cha cha slide, and Yankedi (an African dance). She is also planning on attending a Bible Study with the girls and hope to learn more about their lives by spending time with them. Kelsey is a dance education major studying how to educate children about dance, therefore she is very passionate about dance and enjoy being around children. Her heart also belongs with orphans and children who have been abused because my family just adopted an 11 year old Ukrainian boy from an orphanage in Ukraine. Her new Ukrainian brother, Sasha, inspired her to begin this organization which allows children to ESCAPE from their troubled life and find confidence in who they are by expressing themselves through dance. She hopes that “Dance Escape” will grow and allow her to teach and impact other lives in more homes across the state.

South Carolina Jr. Teen Queen, Megan Goodson, says farewell.

Get ready for the best year of your life! Serving as NAMiss South Carolina Jr Teen has been absolutely amazing! It was such an honor and a privilege, an experience I will never forget. The opportunities to show God’s love and bring smiles to so many faces was such a blessing to me.

Hey Girls!
I am so excited to meet all of you! This weekend will be one you will never forget. Last year I stood in your shoes, in awe of this whole situation, and even more, that I was a part of this amazing adventure. And yes, oh so excited and more than a little nervous! Relax and enjoy every minute. NAM is truly the experience of a lifetime! If there is something I can do to help make this weekend more pleasant for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.
To my successor, you are going to have a blast this year. Get ready for the best year of your life! Serving as NAMiss South Carolina Jr Teen has been absolutely amazing! It was such an honor and a privilege, an experience I will never forget. The opportunities to show God’s love and bring smiles to so many faces was such a blessing to me. I was able to visit with the elderly, see our brave soldiers off as they went to fight for our freedom in Afghanistan, ride in parades, meet the Governor and encourage pre-school students to eat healthy and exercise, promoting my platform “Fitness for the Future”. It is truly magical to see their excitement when meeting a “princess”. You will find it a blessing to reach out and make a difference in someone else’s life. Traveling to Nationals in California and representing our great state was truly an honor. I met an amazing group of new friends. Girls who were a lot like me……smart, enthusiastic, kind and beautiful inside and out!
To all my North and South Carolina sister queens, I know we will always have a special NAM bond. Mr. Matt, you are the best, and Chick-Fil-A will always make me think of you! Ms. Michelle thanks for making open calls so much fun and yes, I did bring my tide to go pen with me this weekend! To my friends and family, thanks for being such an awesome support system. I love you all!

A final word from your 2010 National American Miss South Carolina Teen Queen, Kelsey Nyman.

National American Miss has given me the opportunity of a lifetime and I feel extremely blessed to have been a part of such an incredible organization. Thank you for allowing me to represent NAM and serve you this year as your Miss South Carolina Teen Queen.

I cannot believe that my reign as your South Carolina Teen Queen is coming to an end. Time as flown by and I have thoroughly enjoyed representing South Carolina and this incredible organization that makes girl’s dreams come true.

Recently, my family adopted a 12 year old boy from Ukraine. I soon felt compelled to reach out to orphans. Teaching dance to abandoned kids in Children’s Homes in South Carolina has been a huge blessing in my life. I have seen these children given the opportunity to escape their challenges and find a hope in expressing themselves through dance. I have also had the privilege of working with many nursing homes. My life has been blessed as I have spent time building friendships with these elders and children this year.

The National pageant in Anaheim California was an experience that I will never forget. I soon realized that NAM girls are women whose beauty is reflected from their heart rather than just their appearance. I met some amazing girls at nationals whom I respect and know will make a huge difference in this world.

As for my sister queens, you are all amazing and beautiful girls who inspire me everyday. Thank you for partnering with me to help represent South Carolina. Megan and Marissa, Nationals was a blast and I’m so thankful for our friendship. Astoria, thank you for being my other half in this journey and helping me represent the Carolinas. You make me want to be a better queen. Matt, I couldn’t have asked for a better director. You always add so much joy and life to this organization and we are lucky to have you guide us along our amazing journey as queens. To my supportive family, thank you for being my biggest fan club and always cheering me on, especially making the extra trip to California. Lastly I thank my Lord and Savior for giving me the opportunity to bring him glory through NAM.

To my successor, I already know that you will be an incredible queen who will make both NAM and myself very proud. Remember to take every opportunity that comes your way because it will be gone in a flash. Know where your true beauty lies and seek to share that with others. I’m so excited for your new journey!

Farewell from 2010 South Carolina Pre-Teen Queen Brianna Genelle Williams.

Welcome to the Miss South Carolina Pageant! I am so excited to meet all of you. We have so much fun ahead of us! Enjoy every minute of your experience here this weekend, because it will truly be a time that you will never forget.

Dear Contestants,
Welcome to the Miss South Carolina Pageant! I am so excited to meet all of you. We have so much fun ahead of us! Enjoy every minute of your experience here this weekend, because it will truly be a time that you will never forget.
I can hardly believe that it has been a year since my journey as Miss South Carolina Pre-Teen began. I will always cherish the memories gained through my National American Miss experience. I was so excited to take my first trip to California to compete in Nationals! The excitement really hit me when I boarded my plane in Myrtle Beach, and felt like true royalty when I was given a shout out from my flight attendant and fellow passengers wishing me good luck in California. Nationals was amazing! I made so many friends and had an unbelievable experience. I also enjoyed participating in community service programs across South Carolina and meeting many of you at open calls.
I would like to thank God for blessing me with this unbelievable opportunity, and all of my family and friends for their love and support during my reign. I would also like to thank Matt Leverton and his great staff for always making me feel special, and the National American Miss family for sponsoring such an outstanding pageant.
As my reign comes to a close, I would like to wish all of the contestants this weekend the best of luck. Only one girl can be crowned, but all of you can walk away knowing that you are special. Never give up on your dreams. I competed for three years before my dream of being crowned Miss South Carolina finally came true. To my successor, I hope that you treasure your title and know that it is an honor to wear the NAM crown. Enjoy every minute and take a lot of pictures!
Again, good luck to all of you, and let’s get this party started!!!!!!!
Best Wishes Always,
Brianna Genelle Williams

South Carolina Jr.Pre-Teen National American Miss Queen Jada Orr participates in Beach Sweep.

Jada was able to participate in a weekend long activity that involved cleaning up the South Carolina beaches.

Jada was able to participate in a weekend long activity that involved cleaning up the South Carolina beaches. Early one morning, Jada and her family went out to the beach and did their share to clean up some of the pollution and trash that is ruining their beautiful beaches. She was surprised to see how many other people cared enough to commit some time to clean up. It was nice to go to the beach and see how their hard work had paid off.

I could go on and on about this subject, haha! NAM has become so much more than just a pageant for me. It has become a part of my life. I was never very confident and super shy before I started competing. Whether I was a contestant or a vis…iting Cover Girl I have always been completely satisfied with the effort and friendliness from all directors and staff at NAM. Everyone has made me and my parents feel like family! During my years I have developed a sense of confidence, become more involved in my community, and gained the quality of loving and appreciating all types of people. NAM has definitely made me a more mature individual. I have even met some of my best friends through the pageant. No matter the results, there’s never really a question as to whether or not I will come back the next year because I always have so much fun and always end up learning something new about myself and making new friends. It’s definitely a huge part of my life♥ See More

Well its had big impact on my life. Well I competed in 2009 and that fall I was going into 8th grade so I just knew that I was going to be separated and Nam gave me the ability to voice out who I truly am so during the summer of 2010 my hig…h school had a freshmen orientation were I was not with the 3 other girls who were attending that school(they choose a different session). I made TONS of friends and even though now during school I have maybe 15% of my classes with them, I have even more friends who I think are truly amazing and awesome. NAM gave me that confidence. Pageant was 3-2 days and so was my orientation and I made friends 🙂 and being able to do presentations in front of my class,I can totally speak confidently, and clear so Nam has really changed my life so thank you. I would love to be on Broadway so this summer I WILL compete in Nam and hopefully start my ambition. Thanks Nam and you guys have a place in my heart, the top left corner :)See More

Just where do I begin? NAM has helped me become the confident experienced girl I am today. When I started at 5 years old I could hardly speak but Mr. Matt always told me to not give up and learn and then he told the parents to support us …in all we do. Well , I have been to 3 Nationals and every year I just grown and get better. I might never have brought home the state crown but I will never give up my dream. The best thing + besides confidence and great friends that I got from NAM is the love of giving back.Me and my family began volunteering right at 6 years old and I even was the youngest person to volunteer at the Nashville Zoo because I needed hours for NAM but it grew in my heart to help others and now I have TN H.U>G.S. and help the Ronald M. H. and people all over the country can learn about helping others through me. NAM gave me that first love of giving back. I also have learned to be a god role model wherever I am -school, church or even NAm. Oh ,and I can give an interview which most of my friends would die if they had to and even present a speech. So many things-this is just the begininng.Love, Olivia WSee More

Olivia Grace There’s so much to say about NAM! I will start by saying it has helped me gain confidence in myself. Every summer I look forward to meeting new friends as well as reuniting with old friends! It is a wondeful, fun-filled family experience, and I am proud to say that this is my 4th year competing. NAM helps develop positive, young role models who are changing this country one step at a time, and who will go forward to become even greater than they themselves could ever imagine♥

NAM has made me a great person. I could go on with a huge list. But I have learned to be happy with who I am, I now know I am beautiful on the inside and out. Dreams do come true through nam, you can never give up. I’ve not only gained life… long skills but I gained friendships I will never lose. I have one of the best leaders and staff members that you could work with in nam and I am so glad that god has brought them to me. Yes, I know I’ve been a queen but title or not I would still feel the same about nam. There’s nothing else like a nam pageant. Thanks for changing me for good, and for the betterSee More

NAM opened so many doors for me in my life. Before NAM, I was very shy, awkward, and did not have many friends. After my first pageant in 2004, I can honestly say, NAM was the best thing that happened to me. I was a more confident, outgoi…ng, and outspoken young woman. The highest title I ever held with NAM was National Cover Girl. I was never a state or national queen, but the experiences I had in my five years of competition mean more to me than any title, crown, or banner ever could. Throughout those years, I made friends whom I am still in contact with today, and when your directors or choreographers tell you the girls you meet may some day be in your wedding, it is true. Two of my friends I met through NAM will be my bridesmaids at my wedding in November, and they are my best friends I have ever had. Other friends will be guests at my wedding. Everything that NAM is about is real and it is definitely one of those organizations that cannot be explained in words…you have to experience it for yourself to know just how wonderful it is. Thank you, NAM and thank you, Matt, for everything you have done for me!See More

National American Miss…What to say…I never thought in a million years that this system would be such a big part of my life today. NAM has changed me into a poised, outgoing, confident young lady that I never thought I could become. My f…irst year at nam I was shy, afraid, and pretty much kept to myself, the first day anyway, by the end of that weekend I had so many new friends! 🙂 I felt so accomplished that I said my intro perfectly! And my interview was way easier than expected! I was very pleased with the pageant system! And I even got to bring home a few trophies at the end of that weekend! It has taught me so much and I can not wait to come back for my 3rd year!! Not to mention all of the amazing people and role models you meet there!! All of the queens are truly amazing people, and lets not forget about the staff!! I have to admit I didn’t expect the friendliness, and fun filled activities the first year, but boy was I surprised. NAM is truly an amazing system. Mainly because its not a typical beauty pageant. Its not a BEAUTY pageant at all. I love NAM because you don’t have to be 5’8 and look perfect in a swimsuit to win. You don’t have to have perfect teeth and long sculpted hair. You have to be you. And if nothing else has, this pageant has taught me to be myself more than anything else in the world. So thank you to everyone at namiss from the bottom of my heart! ♥ I love you all and I have no idea where I would be in life today with out you!See More
