Macy Moyer

Macy Moyer2Macy Moyer, 2013 Miss Tennessee Junior Teen, has always enjoyed her time at the Boys and Girls Club as a volunteer. She knew as soon as she won the title of your 2013 National American Miss Tennessee Junior Teen, she would be making a special trip there with all of the books and school supplies she was given. Macy instantly made an appointment to go to the Boys and Girls club, knowing the kids would love it all!
As soon as Macy walked in the door with all of the books and supplies, every child’s face completely lit up. Macy said it was the most amazing feeling. She talked with every child and helped them each pick out a few books, and four items of supplies each. Macy has always enjoyed going to the Boys and Girls club and it has always been fun, but being able to volunteer there, while representing National American Miss, made the experience absolutely perfect.

The turn of the 21st century has brought about major change within our families and lifestyles. More than ever, we now see extreme poverty, latchkey kids, excessive divorce rates, and new family patterns. All of these hardships our teens are coping with are being placed right in the laps of our schools and their facilities. These drastic changes in the American family are tremendously affecting today’s youth and the education they are receiving. The Boys and Girls Club of America provide stability in the lives of teens across America. Every school day from three to six teens can get tutoring; play sports, learn a new skill and participate in many more activities. Reagan became involved with the Boys and Girls club of America and fell in love with the kids, and she  realized that there was something real she could do as a sixteen year old that would make a difference in the lives of her peers.    Reagan currently teaches a weekly dance class at her local Boys and Girls Club of America, which gives her the opportunity to share  her love for dance with many enthusiastic teens that have real hopes and aspirations.   Reagan is playing  a vital roll in helping young people overcome these obstacles by calling on her local leaders to help support and become involved with The Boys and Girls Club. She is also visiting local schools and speaking to her peers about the importance of helping those who can’t help themselves. Reagan is teaching teens it’s not about talking, but about “doing” that will make a real difference in her generation.

Through her title as, National American Miss Tennessee Preteen Queen, Macy has volunteered with my community’s Boys and Girls Club. When she goes to volunteer, she donated over two hundred books to the kids. She really enjoys her visits. It gives Macy the opportunity to share her love of books and reading.
When she volunteers at the Boys and Girls club, she donated books through her charity, Macy’s Books for Friends. Macy collects gently used books in her community from friends and others who donate them. Each visit she takes over two hundred books so that each child can get at least 2. All of the kids get so excited about reading and search for the books they’re interested in. By the looks on their faces, you can tell they enjoy reading. They understand the importance reading, which is what Macy’s Books for Friends is all about!
Macy loves going after school and seeing their smiling faces! She also likes talking to the kids about school and their other interests. It is important to Macy for the kids to know she cares! It is so fun for Macy to feel like she is making a positive impact on their lives.  She  has made 3 visits so far and plans to continue her visits by going twice a month.  The kids are so grateful for everything they’re given. It’s amazing how wonderful each and every kid is!
