used part of her winnings to purchase items for the Woman’s Enrichment Center of Lancaster. The Women’s Enrichment Center ministry provides a safe and caring environment for women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. They offer practical alternatives to abortion and support the sanctity of human life. They educate clients on all options available to them. They also offer referrals for continued education and job assistance. All services are FREE and confidential. The Women’s Enrichment Center is funded by the generous contributions of churches, individuals, businesses, fundraising events and grants.

Miss Florida Jr. Pre-Teen Carla Lombardo has been busy representing National American Miss.
Miss Florida Jr. Pre-Teen Carla Lombardo has been busy representing National American Miss. From her appearances at Disney World to her appearance at Miss America Outstanding Teen that concluded with many pictures with the various state queens and Miss America 2014, as well as her picture with Miss Georgia, the reigning Miss America, Carla has done her best to represent her state.
Carla has been active in activities such as Relay for Life at the local community center with senior citizens. She donates baked goods twice weekly to the center where all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society for Relay for Life. These funds were all raised by Carla and her leadership. She baked when she had time and involved sponsors such as Gordon Food Services to donate boxes of cookies to sell. We believe it was a great success!
Carla has also started her own initiative to fight illiteracy through her program that she named “readers make leaders”. Starting with her 10th birthday where she asked for gently used or new books instead of gifts, to a large book drive at her school, she raised over 1000 books. With the collaboration and effort of her brother, a boy scout, his troop, and their family and friends, she achieved her goal of building a small library for the children of an educational center, Tiny Kingdom in Homestead, Florida. This was possible through “We Care of South Dade”, a non-profit organization that presented this center to her. This center accomodates a large number of migrant farmworker’s children. They were very much in need. Carla reads to them for one hour once a week to get to know them better!
She also has participated in a Columbus day festival at a local farm where she appeared with Miss Homestead of the Miss America system and where she supported 4-H, a non profit organization for youth development.

2014 Miss North Carolina Pre-Teen Nikya Hightower volunteered with the Child Advocacy Center. She volunteered for the Child Advocacy Center as they launched their 8th annual American Girl Fashion Show for a good cause. Nikya volunteered several days which included helping the girls with fittings, and two days of the show while the girls waited to hit the runway. She volunteered along with recently retired first female judge of Cumberland County, North Carolina, Beth Keever. She really enjoyed talking with the girls before the show. 2014 Miss North Carolina Jr. Pre-Teen Amaris was a participant in the fashion show.

National American Miss Georgia Jr. Pre-Teen Queen, Gabriela Norwood, helped at Dekalb Medical Center. They held a Cancer Awareness Day. This was a day for them to bring awareness to different cancers and they also did cancer screenings that day. Gabriela was a big help and enjoyed lending a hand!

Niyah Smith, 2013 Miss North Carolina Princess has been handing out the donations given to her at the National American Miss North Carolina pageant. She donated some of the books she received to the Jordan Child and Family Enrichment Center. The Jordan Child and Family Enrichment Center is dedicated to helping children who have been through revolving short-term foster placements, who were born addicted to drugs, and who’ve suffered abuse and neglect. Niyah also read to a group of children, ages 4-5, at the Center. When she was done she got to tell the kids all about the National American Miss pageant that she won. She was very excited and enjoyed her day very much!

The Center also provides consultation to other community childcare programs throughout the state, and training to those who work most closely with children: parents, childcare providers, educators, and administrators.
National American Miss Oregon Pre-Teen Queen Alison Kotila works with Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children.
Community service is a big part of Alison’s life! It gives her the chance to have fun and make a difference at the same time. Community service is great because she gets to leave her world for a while and see what it’s like in someone else’s. That’s why Alison loves volunteering at the Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children.
The Providence Center is an amazing place! It’s a place where kids with serious medical limitations live. None of the kids can walk or talk. The goal of Providence is to help these children have a better life.
As a volunteer, her job is to help brighten the life of kids and to help them have fun. She has been asigned a “buddy”. Alison’s buddy is just about her age and they have fun painting finger nails, playing games and reading. Her buddy was introduced to her as a “princess”. She has a princess doll and a tiara. Perfect match! They both wear their tiaras as Alison reads princess stories.
Recently, she had the opportunity to help set up a haunted house. Alison got to take several kids through the house and help them feel “monster’s eye balls” (peeled grapes). It was great to see their reactions and laughter.
This past weekend Alison got to help at the Providence “Opportunities for Joy” Radiothon. The radiothon was to raise money to support their Augmentative Communication Program. The augmentative communication boards literally give kids a voice. Each board costs $15,000. They raised over $30,000. Two more kids now get to talk.
So far, Alison has had a blast volunteering at Providence. Everytime she visits the kids she feels her life is brightened as well. Alison says she couldn’t ask for a better community service opportunity and she plans to volunteer there for a long time.
