2016 Miss South Carolina Jr. Pre-Teen Jia Patel Clean Water Crusader

Jia Patel (Miss South Carolina Jr. Pre-Teen) spent the past year proudly
fundraising with her family. She helped raise over $20,000 to build a
clean water well in her grandfather’s birth village in India. They also
used these funds to build a drinking water facility for the animals in
this very hot and dry farming village.

Jia was very grateful to have been able to take her South Carolina NAM
title to India this past December 2016 to see her fundraising efforts in
person. Jia plans to continue to promote awareness about the need for
people worldwide to have access to clean safe water.

Donation ItemsShivali Patel, Miss North Carolina Teen, recently took her annual trip overseas and not only represented America in a well manner, but also did a variety of services using her title and promoting National American Miss in India! As one of her service projects, she visited the Jagwanda Balmandir School (which is actually a preschool for one hundred and twenty children) and did an assortment of things including and not limited to distributing toys she had collected and brought with her from America through a donation drive she had started, giving the young ones school supplies and candy as well! The kids were absolutely overjoyed and seemed to fall in love with her immediately. In addition to all of this, the children responded so well and interacted well with her and she was also given the privilege to teach them for a week. She went and read to them and played games with them for a week during which she grew closer to the children. They have invited her back next summer.
