Gabrielle recently participated in an Earth Day event. Gabrielle made Solar Ovens out of Pizza boxes and baked smores in them. Her friends were on hand to help hand out samples to the crowd. She then taught her second grade class about solar ovens and their use in other third world countries. It was a fun day and who doesn’t like smores? Gabrielle is having a blast representing National American Miss and her title. Soon, she will also be participating in the walk with Ronald to benefit her favorite charity, the Ronald McDonald house.
This past weekend I got a couple of emails from families who have been in our pageant about a new charity that has been started by a contestant from the National American Miss Pageants. Olivia Wright, age 10, has numerous pageant accolades and titles including state photogenic, casual wear modeling and actress winner along with being a national ambassador. But even cooler than that is that Olivia has started a charity call H.U.G.S. (Help Us Give Shoes). Here is an excerpt from her website (

Our 2007 National American Miss Princess Queen, Aria Surka, has recently been featured in the American Girl catalogue. Aria is a fantastic kid and was a great representative for her state at our national pageant. Not only does Aria model, but she is very involved in her school and volunteers in her community.
