Located in Burlington, North Carolina, Loaves & Fishes is an organization that distributes food donations from the community to families in need throughout the surrounding six counties. The mission of the non-profit institution is to “offer assistance, encouragement and empowerment of persons in need through the distribution of food and limited financial assistance”. Those in need may receive donations from the distribution center, or via home delivery by a Loaves & Fishes volunteer. This philanthropy also organizes several special events throughout the year to give back to the city, such as Make a Difference Day and the Thanksgiving Lunch.
Loaves & Fishes is an organization that is close to Kacey’s heart, since the entity exemplifies the importance of a caring community, and the impact one person’s contribution can make. Hunger and poverty in the United States are issues that affect many families within each county. According to www.feedingamerica.org, one in six Americans are food insecure, and 43.6 million Americans were in poverty in 2009. Adequate nutrition is a necessity to one’s total well being; the effects of malnutrition can be severe, especially for children. Many who are struggling with hunger are hardworking citizens who simply cannot make ends meet despite the desire to provide for his or her family. This national issue of hunger can be combated one neighborhood at a time through charity projects such as Loaves & Fishes. Having a role in an organization that provides resources and encouragement to families in need has been a rewarding experience for Kacey. She has seen how a community can work together to make a positive impact. She hopes to encourage others to support those in need in their hometown by donating or volunteering at their local food bank. Together, we can make a positive impact by helping our neighbors overcome poverty.

Dear Contestants,
Welcome to the Miss South Carolina Pageant! I am so excited to meet all of you. We have so much fun ahead of us! Enjoy every minute of your experience here this weekend, because it will truly be a time that you will never forget.
I can hardly believe that it has been a year since my journey as Miss South Carolina Pre-Teen began. I will always cherish the memories gained through my National American Miss experience. I was so excited to take my first trip to California to compete in Nationals! The excitement really hit me when I boarded my plane in Myrtle Beach, and felt like true royalty when I was given a shout out from my flight attendant and fellow passengers wishing me good luck in California. Nationals was amazing! I made so many friends and had an unbelievable experience. I also enjoyed participating in community service programs across South Carolina and meeting many of you at open calls.
I would like to thank God for blessing me with this unbelievable opportunity, and all of my family and friends for their love and support during my reign. I would also like to thank Matt Leverton and his great staff for always making me feel special, and the National American Miss family for sponsoring such an outstanding pageant.
As my reign comes to a close, I would like to wish all of the contestants this weekend the best of luck. Only one girl can be crowned, but all of you can walk away knowing that you are special. Never give up on your dreams. I competed for three years before my dream of being crowned Miss South Carolina finally came true. To my successor, I hope that you treasure your title and know that it is an honor to wear the NAM crown. Enjoy every minute and take a lot of pictures!

S.W.E.E.T. (Supporting with Education, Encouragement and Togetherness) Revenge Diabetes Support Group has given parents and their children a chance to meet others in the same situation and time to talk about the issues that many families deal with. Each month there is a planned topic and often a guest speaker. Rachel Earley was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes in June, 2005, and has been an active member of the support group since 2007. She has contributed over 200 hours of organizing, planning, and speaking. To recognize her efforts, she was promoted to Youth Director as of January 2010. She was the honorary guest speaker for the month of October, where she shared her troubles and triumphs, and the importance of responsibility with diabetes from the perspective of a patient. She also coordinated and hosted an informative “November is National Diabetes Awareness Month” booth in the Family Network Center of Mission Children’s Clinic in her hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, promoting awareness for the disease. Currently, she is working on a Child Mentoring program that creates a buddy-system for teens and children with diabetes. In doing so, this will provide a trustworthy atmosphere for parents to leave there children with diabetes in the hands of an experienced and responsible diabetic during activities such as babysitting and overall support with the disease.

Alajah went to two nursing homes and participated in singing to the residents during their activity time. She sang 5 songs for the residents and assisted with bingo, helping the residents find the number and place the chips on the numbers for the bingo games. The residents enjoyed her and she had a wonderful time performing for the elderly.

It’s amazing to me that one year ago I was crowned Miss Oregon Pre-Teen. I was so honored that my 5 years of hard work, practice and patience, were fulfilled in one crowning moment. As Miss Oregon Pre-Teen, I have been privileged to represent NAM at many public appearances. My sister queens and I had fun appearing in parades throughout the area, from Sheridan to Gladstone! During my year, I had the opportunity to volunteer for various non-profit organizations. Including Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children and along with my sister queens, volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House.The highlight of my summer was going to the North California and Washington pageants as visiting royalty. They were a blast! I met so many great girls and had a lot of fun helping out. But by far my favorite part of the year was going to nationals. It was an action packed week. We toured Hollywood, and shopped on Rodeo Drive. We spent a day in Disneyland, exploring the park and met for a group photo in front of Cinderella’s Castle. I had fun at the themed rehearsals, and the black and white Thanksgiving banquet was fabulous. I was truly honored to win the National Best Resume. My week at nationals was a week I’ll never forget. I’ve made lifelong friends from all over the country. There are so many people I’d like to thank for making this past year a dream come true. To Matt, thank you for providing girls in Oregon the opportunity to participate in the best pageant system ever and supporting me throughout the year. To my sister queens, my Namily, I love you all to the ends of the earth. I will always be here for you and will cherish forever the memories we have made. To my friends and family, thank for all of your love and support. To my Lord and Savior, my life would be nothing without you. Thank you for guiding me through this past year’s journey. And last but not least, Mom. You have done so much for me and have stood right by my side through everything that has happened. I love you endlessly. You truly are the best mom ever. To my successor, this year will fly by so enjoy every moment of your reign. I was blessed with an amazing year.

Dear Contestants,
Congratulations on being a State Finalist! This weekend is sure to be an exciting adventure, a growing experience where you will make memories to last a life time…
This year has been one of the best times in my life. I have been all over the state volunteering for people like Operation Care Package, the Ronald McDonald, working as a Page in the House of Representatives and so many more. One that stands out was helping at Brad’s World of reptiles at the Washington County Fair where I showed snakes and crocodiles, I did not care much for reptiles but this experience allowed me to face my fear and I embraced the challenge. I have even learned to fly a hot air balloon and I am working on my pilot license.
Having this title inspired me to create my own foundation, Operation Movie Drop, where I collect new or used DVD’s and send them over sea’s to our soldiers. It was the volunteer work I was involved in that brought this need to my attention. I had no idea that American movies would not be available to them even in places like Japan. It is my goal to send 2000 movies.
Being able to hang out with my sister queens and traveling all over and going to nationals was the best time I have ever had. At National American Miss, they always tell you that you will meet friends that will last a lifetime. No matter what happens, don’t stop where you are, get to know the girls as well as I did, you don’t have to be royalty to make these connections. Volunteer, for your favorite organization or even for places that you have never heard of, give back and make a difference. Get involved with your family, friends, and community and encourage others to become involved. You’re going to have a great time during pageant weekend, spending time with you family, and learning more about yourself that you never knew before. Things like how confident you are and how you can really do anything that you set your mind to. I am looking forward to meeting you at pageant this year.
I have had so many memories that will last forever. I would like to thank everyone at NAM, my family, sister queens and everyone I met last year for making this the greatest experience of my life.

It’s hard to believe that a year has already gone by and that my title as your Miss Oregon miss queen is coming to an end. I cant even begin to put into words how incredibly blessed I felt for this amazing opportunity. This year has opened so many doors for me that would not of been possible without National American Miss. From parades to fundraisers, charity events, meeting with local and state officials, while being a full time college student I was one busy girl.
This summer I had the chance to travel to the Washington pageant as visiting royalty. Despite getting lost on the way up there I had a great time meeting a large group of amazing young woman.
Next it was off to sunny California for nationals. We started off our week with an Oregon queens get together, then it was time for some optionals. Hollywood and Disneyland with the family was an unforgettable day and one that I will cherish.
This year would not of been the same without my director Matt and the NAM staff. Thank you for this incredible journey with National American Miss for the past 5 years. I knew this day of outgrowing the system would come… however I was hoping it wouldn’t come so fast! Its not goodbye… Just see you later!!
To my little ducklings of sister queens, I don’t even know where to begin. You girls are just beyond fabulous! Each and everyone of you have a very special place in my heart. Don’t let your dreams stop here for this is just the beginning of all the amazing and incredible things you girls will accomplish!
Mom, Gram, Cody and the rest of my family and friend’s, I don’t know what I would of done without you this past year. I’m so thankful for your endless support and love, and for allowing me to pursue my dreams!
To the girls who take home the titles, this year goes by fast so hang on and cherish every moment. Winning isn’t about the crown or even the Miss Oregon banner, it’s about the impact you choose to make with your title. I pray this year ahead is one that you will never forget and one that has a lasting impression.
Lastly, none of this would have been remotely possible without God. Father thank you for blessing me with such an amazing opportunity. As my year comes to an end I know you have new things in store for me!

Community service is a big part of Alison’s life! It gives her the chance to have fun and make a difference at the same time. Community service is great because she gets to leave her world for a while and see what it’s like in someone else’s. That’s why Alison loves volunteering at the Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children.
The Providence Center is an amazing place! It’s a place where kids with serious medical limitations live. None of the kids can walk or talk. The goal of Providence is to help these children have a better life.
As a volunteer, her job is to help brighten the life of kids and to help them have fun. She has been asigned a “buddy”. Alison’s buddy is just about her age and they have fun painting finger nails, playing games and reading. Her buddy was introduced to her as a “princess”. She has a princess doll and a tiara. Perfect match! They both wear their tiaras as Alison reads princess stories.
Recently, she had the opportunity to help set up a haunted house. Alison got to take several kids through the house and help them feel “monster’s eye balls” (peeled grapes). It was great to see their reactions and laughter.
This past weekend Alison got to help at the Providence “Opportunities for Joy” Radiothon. The radiothon was to raise money to support their Augmentative Communication Program. The augmentative communication boards literally give kids a voice. Each board costs $15,000. They raised over $30,000. Two more kids now get to talk.
So far, Alison has had a blast volunteering at Providence. Everytime she visits the kids she feels her life is brightened as well. Alison says she couldn’t ask for a better community service opportunity and she plans to volunteer there for a long time.

Jada was able to participate in a weekend long activity that involved cleaning up the South Carolina beaches. Early one morning, Jada and her family went out to the beach and did their share to clean up some of the pollution and trash that is ruining their beautiful beaches. She was surprised to see how many other people cared enough to commit some time to clean up. It was nice to go to the beach and see how their hard work had paid off.

Kristen spent time volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte, NC. Second Harvest strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. They provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. Second Harvest service area population lives in poverty, including almost 170,000 children and seniors. In order to get this food into the community, Second Harvest relies on community volunteers to help sort and prepare food for distribution.
During her day of service, Kristen helped to organize the different food items and place them in the appropriate distribution bin. She was trained how to identify damaged food items and remove them from distribution. She also helped clean up the warehouse when the work was done. It was a lot of hard work, but very rewarding. The best part of volunteering is about helping people in need with this effort. Kristen loved serving her community and knowing that the day’s activities is essential to feeding families and children. She looks forward to serving again throughout the year.

Through her title as, National American Miss Tennessee Preteen Queen, Macy has volunteered with my community’s Boys and Girls Club. When she goes to volunteer, she donated over two hundred books to the kids. She really enjoys her visits. It gives Macy the opportunity to share her love of books and reading.
When she volunteers at the Boys and Girls club, she donated books through her charity, Macy’s Books for Friends. Macy collects gently used books in her community from friends and others who donate them. Each visit she takes over two hundred books so that each child can get at least 2. All of the kids get so excited about reading and search for the books they’re interested in. By the looks on their faces, you can tell they enjoy reading. They understand the importance reading, which is what Macy’s Books for Friends is all about!
Macy loves going after school and seeing their smiling faces! She also likes talking to the kids about school and their other interests. It is important to Macy for the kids to know she cares! It is so fun for Macy to feel like she is making a positive impact on their lives. She has made 3 visits so far and plans to continue her visits by going twice a month. The kids are so grateful for everything they’re given. It’s amazing how wonderful each and every kid is!

Turkey Rama is McMinnville, Oregon’s longest tradition, a time for not only the city to come together but a time to raise money for our citiy’s organizations. To go along with Turkey Rama, the McMinnville Downtown Association puts on The Biggest Turkey! A competition where a person can raise money for a local organization. This year there were three competitors, they each chose a organization to represent , they were to raise money at events put on by the MDA, and also on their own as well. They also competed in a lipsinging contest to win points toward the crown, which is televised. This year Brittany Thomas, assisted with the first event, the Trash N 2 Fashion, as a judge and award presenter. The weekend of Turkey Rama, she also called bingo, passed out prizes donated by all the local businesses in McMinnville, assisted with kids competitions like cupcake walk and a hula hoop contest, sold raffle tickets to raise money for the MDA, painted kids faces, started and emceed the Turkey Trot, judged the Lipsync Contest, and was even honored to crown this year’s Biggst Turkey! A title her grandma, and great uncle had at one time. Not only is Turkey Rama about giving back to the community but about helping our local organizations. This year we raised 28,000 dollars for The Willamete Cancer Foundation, Homeward Bound Pets, and The Henderson House. McMinniville is a small town with only 32,000 people, but are a tight community and everyone looks forward to this annual event. For Brittany, being able to be a part of the 50th anniversary was both an honor and a blessing!

I could go on and on about this subject, haha! NAM has become so much more than just a pageant for me. It has become a part of my life. I was never very confident and super shy before I started competing. Whether I was a contestant or a vis…iting Cover Girl I have always been completely satisfied with the effort and friendliness from all directors and staff at NAM. Everyone has made me and my parents feel like family! During my years I have developed a sense of confidence, become more involved in my community, and gained the quality of loving and appreciating all types of people. NAM has definitely made me a more mature individual. I have even met some of my best friends through the pageant. No matter the results, there’s never really a question as to whether or not I will come back the next year because I always have so much fun and always end up learning something new about myself and making new friends. Well its had big impact on my life. Well I competed in 2009 and that fall I was going into 8th grade so I just knew that I was going to be separated and Nam gave me the ability to voice out who I truly am so during the summer of 2010 my hig…h school had a freshmen orientation were I was not with the 3 other girls who were attending that school(they choose a different session). I made TONS of friends and even though now during school I have maybe 15% of my classes with them, I have even more friends who I think are truly amazing and awesome. NAM gave me that confidence. Pageant was 3-2 days and so was my orientation and I made friends 
and being able to do presentations in front of my class,I can totally speak confidently, and clear so Nam has really changed my life so thank you. Just where do I begin? NAM has helped me become the confident experienced girl I am today. When I started at 5 years old I could hardly speak but Mr. Matt always told me to not give up and learn and then he told the parents to support us …in all we do. Well , I have been to 3 Nationals and every year I just grown and get better. I might never have brought home the state crown but I will never give up my dream. The best thing + besides confidence and great friends that I got from NAM is the love of giving back.Me and my family began volunteering right at 6 years old and I even was the youngest person to volunteer at the Nashville Zoo because I needed hours for NAM but it grew in my heart to help others and now I have TN H.U>G.S. and help the Ronald M. H. and people all over the country can learn about helping others through me. NAM gave me that first love of giving back. I also have learned to be a god role model wherever I am -school, church or even NAm. Oh ,and I can give an interview which most of my friends would die if they had to and even present a speech. NAM opened so many doors for me in my life. Before NAM, I was very shy, awkward, and did not have many friends. After my first pageant in 2004, I can honestly say, NAM was the best thing that happened to me. I was a more confident, outgoi…ng, and outspoken young woman. The highest title I ever held with NAM was National Cover Girl. I was never a state or national queen, but the experiences I had in my five years of competition mean more to me than any title, crown, or banner ever could. Throughout those years, I made friends whom I am still in contact with today, and when your directors or choreographers tell you the girls you meet may some day be in your wedding, it is true. Two of my friends I met through NAM will be my bridesmaids at my wedding in November, and they are my best friends I have ever had. Other friends will be guests at my wedding. Everything that NAM is about is real and it is definitely one of those organizations that cannot be explained in words…you have to experience it for yourself to know just how wonderful it is. National American Miss…What to say…I never thought in a million years that this system would be such a big part of my life today. NAM has changed me into a poised, outgoing, confident young lady that I never thought I could become. My f…irst year at nam I was shy, afraid, and pretty much kept to myself, the first day anyway, by the end of that weekend I had so many new friends! I felt so accomplished that I said my intro perfectly! And my interview was way easier than expected! I was very pleased with the pageant system! And I even got to bring home a few trophies at the end of that weekend! It has taught me so much and I can not wait to come back for my 3rd year!! Not to mention all of the amazing people and role models you meet there!! All of the queens are truly amazing people, and lets not forget about the staff!! I have to admit I didn’t expect the friendliness, and fun filled activities the first year, but boy was I surprised. NAM is truly an amazing system. Mainly because its not a typical beauty pageant. Its not a BEAUTY pageant at all. I love NAM because you don’t have to be 5′8 and look perfect in a swimsuit to win. You don’t have to have perfect teeth and long sculpted hair. You have to be you. And if nothing else has, this pageant has taught me to be myself more than anything else in the world. Kristen participated in the 9/11 National Day of Service. She baked and delivered homemade chocolate chip cookies to some local fire departments in Charlotte. She volunteered through the Bank of America Community Volunteers which provided the contact information. She called several fire departments to arrange delivery of their cookie trays. She picked stations in four different parts of town in order to cover a wide area. The project gave her an opportunity to share one of her favorite things to do and bring a smile to someone else. She was able to meet firefighters at each station and thank them for all their hard work and dedication to keeping the community safe. She was able to sit in one of the trucks which was she thought was really cool. Kristen said it was good to see their smiles when delivering the cookies to them. Kristen said it was great to show our local heroes how much they are appreciated.
Kristen’s second activity was as a rescue dog handler for Project H.A.L.O ( Helping Animals Live On). Her duties included event set up, handling rescue dogs during the event and providing for its needs, speaking with potential adoptive parties, and encourage support of the organization to event visitors.

Once again Cailee kicked off her “Movies for Military” in the fall and was able to collect over 646 DVDs and 100 puzzle books for our troops. In fall of 2009 she collected over 200 DVDs so she was quite proud that she was able to more than triple that in 2010. Cailee and her family do so much with the project on a ongoing basis that they have officially registered the trademark “Movies for Military.” They are just beginning the new year and already have collected over 45 DVDs and 40 puzzle books.
In September 11th Cailee also participated in the Freedom Walk at the Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC where she spoke to over 600 participants about her project and received a standing ovation from the two star Major General Rodney Anderson which he initiated. In October, State Representative Rick Glazier came to her school to give her a special acknowledgment for her project. At Christmas time, Cailee also sponsered a military family.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is an organization that serves 1000’s of people each year by providing food to families in times of need. Second Harvest receives large quantities of food from various sources like grocery stores and food drives in the area. Michaelah helped to get the food ready for the families visiting the food bank. Her particular responsibilities included organizing the different food items, labeling the boxes, and cleaning the warehouse. It is hard work but very rewarding.
The first area where she served was in the food sorting area. This is a big area where food is sorted by categories. After the food is sorted, she placed them in boxes, labeled the boxes, and loaded them onto crates. After the boxes are filled, she helped to arrange them on the shelves so that the workers serving the families can clearly identify the different food items.
The warehouse is huge and some of the food that is donated is damaged or unusable. So, she also spent time cleaning up the area from food products that were either damaged or unusable. Although it is a lot of work, it is a wonderful place to serve and the Nashville community really does great in supporting the efforts of Second Harvest. Michaelah looks forward to serving there again throughout this year.

Sophia Takla Miss Oregon Jr.Pre-Teen was recently chosen as a Junior Blazer Dancer for the Portland Trail Blazer’s Professional Basketball team. After a grueling 7 hour tryout she was selected to fill one of only a few open spots! Many girls ages eight to eleven try out for the honor of being a team member and dancing at home games for the Blazers. Junior Blazer Dancers are always a crowd favorite. Sophia loves warm ups because when she’s warming up so are the Blazer players and their opponents, like the LA Lakers! After the games she loves to hear that she was featured on the HUGE Jumbo-Tron at the Rose Garden Arena! Sophia dances six days a week on top of a three hour JBD practice every Sunday evening! Hello everyone! From Tennessee I am Kirsten Verble your 2009-2010 National American Miss Junior Pre-Teen Queen. Get ready to have lots of fun at the pageant this year. There will be an awesome “get aquainted” party where you will get to meet all the staff and make new friends. Just remember through the busy weekend to stop and enjoy the moment. Becoming a state finalist is such a great accomplishment and that not everyone who applied made it to this level.
As you can see from my pictures it has been a very busy year. I got to meet governor Bredesen and volunteer time with a special education class at a school near my home. I also spent time visiting the elderly at the nursing home and met Stephanie Wittler, Miss Tennessee 2009. Even if you do not win the title of junior pre-teen 2010 you can still take time out of your life to volunteer and change another person’s life.
I would like to wish each and every one of you good luck for the upcoming pageant. I know you must be nervous but remember to be yourself and everything will be fine. Encourage each other, be friends and support one another. Only one girl will win the title this weekend but everyone can gain life-long friendships and skills. You will learn confidence, poise and grace and you will never forget this experience.
I couldn’t believe it when they called my name last year and I feel very fortunate to have had this experience in my life. What a wonderful event to add to my journey. If you do not win don’t be discouraged or give up, there is always next year. Keep the lessons you learned and the friendships dear to your heart, God has put you here for a reason. Dear Contestants.
I would first like to congratulate you for making it this far! You have already accomplished so much by simply deciding to attend this year’s pageant! This shows bravery, strength, and a desire for greatness. I would like you to know that I understand all the feelings you may be experiencing. I can fully remember all of the butterflies, excitement, and anticipation. I have stood in your shoes five times before.
National American Miss is such a wonderful pageant! I have made many life-long friends and memories through this organization. I cannot wait for you to experience all of the fun of pageant weekend!
As I said before, I have competed in this pageant five times, and trust me, every year I walked away with an important life lesson. When I began my journey at NAM, I was an eleven year-old girl with panic attacks. I had no idea what to expect, I just wanted to do something that would get me outside of my comfort zone. I left that year with a newfound confidence and amazing friends! I continued coming back four years. Although I didn’t always win, I always had a blast!
Girls, this experience is so amazing. Please take advantage of every opportunity. I encourage you to introduce yourself to other contestants! Make it your goal to meet a new friend, who can go through this journey with you. Friends make this pageant so much fun! I met my best friend at the pageant in 2005, and now we see each other every summer!
My advice to you is to have fun! Don’t get caught up in the stress and miss all of the fun! Be yourself and relax! God has brought you to this point for a reason! Remember that God’s plans are perfect! Good luck and have fun! God bless!

Dear Contestants,
First off, congratulations on being a state finalist. What an honor! This weekend has a lot in store, from rehearsals to competitions and even a party. Get to know the other contestants and make new friends. I can’t wait to meet each and every one of you this weekend!
Nationals were amazing. While I was honored to be second runner up, one of the funnest things we did was tour Hollywood. And what fun we had at crazy themed rehearsals!
As you compete this weekend, never forget to have a smile on your face and your shoulders held back. No matter what the outcome this weekend I know God has a plan for each and every one of you. While at times it might be hard to know this, it’s very true. We must be patient and wait. Remember this weekend is but one step along the path God has chosen for you.
My sincere wish for each of you is that you will make memories that you can share all your life. I hope you know you are a winner simply for being here, so hold your head high and take with you experiences that will help shape you into the person you can be.

You know the saying “Time flies when you’re having fun?” Well, that’s what I’ve been doing this entire year. Look how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time! When I was crowned National American Miss Kentucky Pre-teen, I was so surprised. I didn’t know what to think! I then flew to California in November for Nationals and had the time of my life! I got to meet girls from all over the country and make plenty of memories. I had the chance to take a tour of Hollywood and even ride down Rodeo Drive! Disneyland was so much fun. I got to see Mickey, Peter Pan, and even Jack Sparrow!
Nationals wasn’t the only great part of my year. I had the opportunity to volunteer at various places representing my title. Being the Ambassador for the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky, I spoke about brain injury prevention and appeared at many events.
To all of my faithful sponsors- thank you so much for all of the support. I had so much fun volunteering and promoting events.
To Malia, my first runner up- You’re a queen in your own right and we’ll be friends forever.
Hey, Leverton!- You are most definitely the best director of all the states. Thank you for making this weekend so special.
To my family- Mom, you have always supported me and given me guidance. Thank you for spending countless hours helping me prepare and practice. Dad, I’m sorry that you get so emotional watching me on stage. Thanks for always giving encouragement and love. Logan, my true sister queen, this year wouldn’t have been the same without you. The rest of my family, thank you guys so much for all of the love and support.
To all of you nervous contestants- no matter what the outcome, this experience will stay with you forever.

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been a year since I was crowned National American Miss Ky Jr. Pre-teen. When they called my name I was so excited and that’s when the Journey began. I had so much fun visiting other pageants. I was treated like royalty and met my sister queens from Indiana, Tennessee and Texas.
And let me tell you, the volunteering you get to do is amazing. I had so much fun going to Wayside Christian Mission and helping homeless children. Don’t pass up those opportunities to help others because it can change your life.
And then it was off to Nationals in California. I made so many friends. There was Kirsten Miss Tennessee, Tiffany Miss Minnesota, Reegan Miss Michigan and of course I’ll never forget Anna Miss Indiana.
I had a blast going to Disneyland. Believe me you’ll take so many pictures so bring lots of film. Not only did I have all that fun in Disneyland but I got to roam the streets of Hollywood. I even got to meet Madonna…just kidding. It was the best time of my life.
Special thanks to my family; Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, Penny and Rosemare. Without your support I never would have made it this far. Dad I know you could only stand in the back of the room and cry but I love you for it anyway. And Mom thank you for helping me rehearse and searching everywhere for just the right shoes. You really made it happen. And finally to my sister Kyle. I love you so much.! Not many sisters can share the experience of being queens together. Dear Contestants,
I have been honored to represent Kentucky as the 2009 Junior Pre-Teen Cover Girl. I have greatly enjoyed my reign as Cover Girl and have participated in many exciting activities. Shortly after being crowned, I was honored by being invited to Frankfort to meet the Governor of Kentucky. After my meeting with Governor Beshear, I was given a personal tour of the Capitol by State Representative Teddy Edmonds.
I have also spent time this past year volunteering at my local senior citizen center and making several new friends there. I especially enjoyed putting together puzzles with the individuals and listening to their many stories! I also participated in activities to help raise funds for the foster children in my hometown. I was so excited to represent National American Miss while helping to raise money for such an important cause!
Finally, I traveled to California to participate in the National All-American Miss pageant where I was crowned National Cover Girl. I made many new friends from across the country, went to Disneyland, and toured Hollywood. I even got to drive down Rodeo Drive. I had so much fun!
I would like to thank all of my sponsors, as well as the National American Miss family, for this wonderful opportunity. I would also like to thank my mom, dad, sister, and entire family for all of their love and support. Without them, none of this would have been possible.

Its hard to believe that my year as your National American Miss Kentucky Jr. Teen 2009 is over. Being the regining queen for the state this year has opened so many doors for me. I enjoyed volunteering, being visiting royalty and going to nationals. I made so many friends this year and made memories I’ll never forget. I would like you to know that I’ve stood in your shoes four times before, I know what its like to be here for the first time and being here for your fourth, the excitement and the dream never goes away. Being crowned was a dream come true. If I can give you any advice, all I can say is have fun! This experience will change your life, for the better. It’s hard to believe my journey as your reigning National American Miss Kentucky Teen has come to an end. It has been an amazing year, filled with memories that I will treasure for a lifetime. I am honored to have worked with and been a part of the March of Dimes Organization, Cell Phones for Soldiers Foundation, and Samaritans Purse-Operation Christmas Child.
My most treasured memory of my reign was attending nationals. The entire week was a blast. I had an amazing time at Disneyland, where I got to meet and bond friendships with other queens from across the United States. I toured the streets of Hollywood and Rodeo Drive and participated in many activities while representing the great state of Kentucky.
Thanks to the entire NAM staff for all your support this year. Special thanks go to Matt, for his dedication and hard work as a state director. To my sister queens-a year ago we received our crowns and became royalty of Kentucky. Memories will fade, but friendships last forever. To Megan, Kyle & Logan, you’re the greatest!
I would like to congratulate each state finalist on your achievements thus far and encourage each of you to dream big and work hard to reach your goals. Dreams that you follow will keep coming true.

Dear Contestants & Families,
Wow! It is hard to believe that it has been one year since I was crowned your National
American Miss Georgia Princess! I had such a great time at last year’s pageant and
made many new friends. I had the opportunity to travel to other NAM pageants as a
visiting queen and learned to smile and wave very quickly!
Before I knew it, it was time to go to California for Nationals! I met all of my sister
queens and had an amazing time. I toured Hollywood and the Walk of Fame, went
shopping in LA and visited the Santa Monica Pier, but I can’t forget the highlight of the
trip – Disneyland! My family and I had such a great time! I made friends with girls from
all over the country and it was the experience of a lifetime!
Being a NAM queen also gave me the opportunity to serve in my community at many events including Relay for Life, March for Babies, benefit pageants and even a fashion show! This year has been amazing and although I am sad that it is coming to an end, I am excited to crown your new Princess!
I have many people I would like to thank for making this year so special. To my sister queens, thank you for always looking out for me and supporting me as your little sister. To Mr. Matt, the best director a girl could have! To Miss Roxanne and Kaleigh for encouraging me to do my first pageant which helped to prepare me for NAM! To Miss Sharon, for all of the love and support you gave me this year. To Miss Tracy at Girli Girl for always keeping me dressed my best! To my mom and dad for all of your support and the unlimited use of your American Express card. To my big brother, Dylan, for always cheering me on and being my biggest fan.

Dear National American Miss Family and Friends,
God has truly blessed my life. Last year I had no idea that on July 5, 2009 I would compete with over 120 of the most incredible girls in Georgia and be crowned the National American Miss Georgia Teen queen. Holding this prestigious title led me to many unforgettable adventures. Some highlights from my reign included when I presented the awards to the new members of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Induction in Dawsonville, rode in festival parades, volunteered in my city’s annual Mountain Moonshine Festival which raises money for the Kare for Kids charity to provide for underprivileged children, traveled to Tennessee as visiting royalty, met Georgia’s governor Sonny Purdue, and made an appearance at Alma, GA’s annual Blueberry Festival. In November, my family and I traveled to Anaheim, California where I represented our state at the National pageant. Here I met many remarkable fellow queens from all across the USA. During this week my family and I toured through Hollywood, shopped on Rodeo drive, went to Venice and Laguna Beach, and since I am a current Walt Disney World cast member of course my favorite part of the week was going to Disneyland 3 times! It truly was one of my family’s favorite vacations ever and I am so thankful for the lessons I learned and the experiences I gained during Nationals.
I want to say thank you to all of my wonderful family and friends, every cast member at Disney, and all who are a part of National American Miss not only for your unconditional love and for making this year so spectacular, but for inspiring me to go after all the things I want most in my life and for making me a better, more well-rounded person. I truly hope that I will be able to inspire many people and that I am someone everyone can look up to, just as I look up to all of you. Being your queen has meant the world to me, and I have tried my best to live and represent you all the way a true princess would. Now that my royal duties and responsibilities as Miss Georgia Teen are coming to an end, I hope I have been able to uplift, encourage, and have been a role model you all can be proud of!
To my successor, really make the most of your time this year, and know that being a queen is really about what you have to offer the world, and how you can make a difference in it. To all the other contestants, just know that you do not need a crown to be a true princess, because being a respected role model, having morals and treating the world with kindness is what being a princess is all about! Look at Cinderella and Snow White, they do not even have crowns! To every one else, always remain true to yourself and never compromise who you are for anyone or anything. Know that dreams do come true, but only if they are meant to be, and someday you will look back on all the ones that did not come true and be thankful that they did not because they could have hindered you from reaching a dream even bigger that you did not even know existed yet! So continue to believe in yourself and seize every opportunity that comes your way. Instead of wondering about all the great things you will receive in your future, begin to look at the magic that is already gliding through your life at this very moment. Remember life is not always about making every single dream come true, but rather it is about celebrating the dreams that already have come true! Have fun in life and in everything you do celebrate you! It truly has been such an honor to serve you all this year. This is definitely not my happy ending, it is just my “once upon a time’’ beginning!

I can’t believe that only one year ago that I was being crowned your
2009 Miss South Carolina Teen. Words can not even begin to describe what an honor it has been. This year I got to work with the Children’s Chance organization and help raise money for pediatric cancer. I got to have a photo shoot with all of my sister queens. But of all the things I did this year, nationals was definitely the highlight.
Weather it was roaming the streets of Hollywood, meeting princesses at Disney, or just those crazy late night dance rehearsals with the girls, nationals was a blast. I got to have fun catching up with old friends and make so many new ones with girls from across our nation. I want to thank everybody who has been here for me this year. Mom, none of this would have even been possible without you. Thank you for loving me, supporting me, and just plain putting up with me. I love you! Stephanie Hall,you are the best big sister queen I could have ever asked for. You are such a beautiful girl inside and out and I hope you never change! Staci Alden, I am so glad I got to share this year with you. I had a blast running around disney with you for the second year in a row! Sabrina, you are just absolutely gorgeous and so much fun to be around. Never lose touch of the beautiful person you are! Monika, Catherine, Riley, and Erin, you girls are the best sister queens. You all are absolutely adorable and I treasure each of you.
Matt Leverton, you are such a fun state director. Thank you for all that you’ve done and for making my National American Miss experience truly unforgettable. Girls, I am so proud of each you. If you do not take home the crown, take home the friendships and the skills you have gained here this weekend. To my successor, know that this crown is not just a title, but an honorable responsibility. Use this crown not for your own benefit, but for every other person who needs it. Wow, I am not even sure where to begin! The past year as your South Carolina miss queen has been the most exciting, enlightening, and rewarding time of my life. It’s hard to believe that time has passed so quickly, but I would not trade the experience for anything! My journey with the National American Miss organization began nearly five years ago, and I have been so impressed with every aspect of the pageant. It has been such a huge honor to represent you all here and at the national competition in California!
My year of reign has been full of exhilarating experiences! I made many new friends during my visits to Skylan Retirement Home. Being involved with the March of Dimes event in Columbia, the Special Olympics in Greenville, and the Carolina Pregnancy Center in Spartanburg could not have been more rewarding.
My platform, raising cancer awareness among young adults, was inspired by my mother’s battle with breast cancer. I can’t tell you how much having this title at this specific time has helped me. Being able to share my family’s story with people and walking in memory of my mom at various Relay for Life events was such a humbling experience. I had the chance to reach out to people I might never have been able to reach otherwise. What a blessing!
Of course, none of this would have been possible without my amazing support group. First I want to thank my family for always believing in me, no matter what. Matt, you are the best state director I could ever hope for! Thanks so much for all your advice and support, (and for making me try sushi–it wasn’t so bad after all!). Mrs. Kunz, thank you for being my “pageant mom,” I don’t know what I would have done without you and MK. I’ll never forget the crazy memories from Nationals! Erin, Riley, Catherine, Monika, Sabrina, and Mary Katherine, we will always be sisters. I love you guys with all my heart!
Lastly, I want to wish all of the contestants the best of luck. Remember, you are winners just for making it this far. You guys are so talented, smart, and beautiful from the inside out. Dear Contestants,
Congratulations and welcome to the 2010 North and South Carolina State Pageant! My experience with National American Miss has been phenomenal!
The National American Miss family has been so nice to me. Thanks for letting me have this opportunity! I would like to send a big shout-out to my family for all their love and support! Thanks you guys! And most of all, I thank God for letting me have this opportunity of a lifetime!
Every part of the pageant was rewarding, but my favorite parts were the personal introduction and interviewing with the judges. Getting on stage and telling them how my first grade teacher called me her Renaissance Girl because she knew I liked “doing it all” was very exciting! I felt privileged to be on the stage as your 2009 Cover Girl! My advertising sponsors were truly impressed with the motto and purpose of National American Miss and I am so pleased to be a part of this family oriented organization!
Nationals was so fun! It was an honor to be crowned as National Cover Model in Anaheim, CA! There were so many exciting events! At rehearsals, we “pumped up the party” with fun attire such as pajamas, crazy hair and patriotic clothing! I even got to meet and take a picture with Ms. Kathleen Mayes and Ms. Dawn Lee Costa. We went to Hollywood and even went on a tour, but the part I liked best was meeting girls from across the country! I was amazed by how much we had in common. These are all memories that I will keep close to me forever!
I am positive you will have an extraordinary experience with National American Miss! I enjoyed raising money for Boys Farm, a Christian home for boys and Berkeley Citizens in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, that supports children with special needs. It was very rewarding to help people. Just remember: In South Carolina, there are smiling faces and beautiful places, but no matter where you are, you should always let your inner beauty shine through! Good luck and I hope you enjoy your wild journey with National American Miss as much as I have!

Hello National American Miss Pre-teen Contestants!
I believe the memories made at the NAMISS pageant have not only helped me build the confidence and skills I needed to grow, but also helped me create lifelong friends, and meet some extremely, amazing people in the process!
My reign as North Carolina Pre-teen Covergirl began at the State Pageant last summer and continued to Nationals, where I was crowned National Pre-teen Covergirl in November 2009. This year has been absolutely amazing! I loved going out there and representing my home state at Nationals in Anaheim, California and meeting so many great girls and their families. Being a representative of NAMISS, I also was given the opportunity to really give back to my community through volunteering. I was honored to volunteer with the ALS Association – Catfish Hunter Chapter. I started my own Walk Team to defeat ALS, which is also known Lou Gehrig’s disease, and my team raised thousands of dollars. It felt extremely wonderful to be given a chance to help raise money to fight that terrible disease.
First, I would like to thank God and my family for helping me to create these memories. I also want to especially thank my sister Aidan, for supporting me through it all – I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on without you! Also, special thanks to my friends for supporting me throughout State and Nationals! Thank you to Matt Leverton for all you do for this pageant and thank you to all who supported me along the way!
Most importantly to all the contestants this year, it’s your time to truly shine! I encourage you to make this weekend something you will never forget! Good luck to all!

Hello 2010 Contestants & Families!
It is hard to believe that a year has gone by already! Being crowned the 2009 NAMiss North Carolina Teen was thrilling! After the pageant, I did not take my crown or banner off until maybe midnight…yes, I was ecstatic! That night was so surreal, and though it is sad to see my reign come to an end, I know that the memories of this past year will stay with me forever.
During my reign, I was able to volunteer with many charity organizations like the Great Dane Rescue of the Carolinas, Bray’s Love, and the American Cancer Society. I also received the opportunity to appear in several parades, including the Azalea Festival parade in Wilmington.
Making an appearance at the Expressions Dance “Wishes Come True” summer camp for young girls was an amazing experience. I signed t-shirts and even got to dance with the girls during their final recital!
I threw out the first pitch at a Charlotte Knights game and I am ashamed to say that the ball did not make it to the catcher…even though I was standing in front of the pitcher’s mound.
The National Pageant in California was easily one of the highlights of my reign. Representing North Carolina was brilliant! I met so many girls and made friends to last a lifetime. Disneyland was a blast! Riding roller coasters with my sister queens and beating my parents in Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin was all too wonderful. I will never forget the memories or the friendships from that week.
My year could not have been possible without the support of many people. A big thanks goes out to all my family and friends for their love and support. They have always been my number one fans and I am lucky to have them in my life! To Matt Leverton, you are awesome! Thanks so much for all your support and for being such a great director! To the NAM Staff, I am so appreciative of everything you have ever done for me…you rock! To my sister queens, this year has been wonderful getting to know all of you. I love you girls!
To all the 2010 North Carolina contestants, I hope you have the weekend of your life! Nothing is impossible. I truly believe that any dream is attainable once you set your mind to it. I truly loved being a queen. I have had a wonderful year as National American Miss Junior Teen Miss South Carolina. I
had the opportunity to meet new people and experience new things. I made a lot of appearances during my year and my favorite ones were going to see Governor Sanford, going to see our soldiers deport for Kuwait from Eagle Aviations and visiting the elderly at Lexington Medical Extended Care Facility. Seeing the smiles on their faces when they saw me made me feel so good; this was truly the most rewarding thing in my life thus far. It has been a privilege to have been able to work in my community. It has given me a sense of accomplishment seeing that I
can make a difference. I also had a blast at Nationals in California. We went to Disneyland and toured Hollywood. I even got to meet “Johnny Depp”! I can’t wait to do it all over again soon. I want to thank all of my family members; especially my mom and dad. Mom: I will always love you no matter how big I get for my gowns, so to speak. I know at times I have tried your patience and pushed your buttons. I know now that you are tireless as a Mother and you are my role model. You always encourage me to do my best and when I am disappointed you lift me up. Dad: thank you for always coming to support me and putting up with all the drama and finding a way of getting my gowns bought no matter the cost. Tara-Nicole National American Miss Farewell Speech
Hello everyone,
I am Tara-Nicole Azarian, your 2009-210 North Carolina National Amerian Miss Junior Pre-Teen Queen. WOW – what a year I have had! When I heard them call my name last year, as the winner, I nearly fainted! I could not stop crying! A dream of mine had come true – to be a NAM queen….and I have enjoyed EVERY minute of it!
I have made a gazillion appearances, at Parades, Pageants, Festivals & more! I was so glad to also be able to use my reign as a way to help support many community service projects I believe in! Such as, the Salvation Army, The Boys & Girls Club, Operation Homefront & of course, Tara’s Teddys (www.TarasTeddys.com). I was even recognized by Build-a-Bear Inc as one of their 40 National finalists in the US for outstanding volunteer work in 2009!
My journey to Nationals was amazing! My favorite moments were seeing Walt Disney’s Star on the Walk of Fame, going to Disneyland with my pageant buddy Miss New York & receiving a Spirit Stick at Nationals! But the VERY BEST moment for me was when I WON the National Volunteer Service award…which was the event that meant the world to me!
I would like to thank everyone who made my journey possible! First of all, God – who makes all things possible, my Daddy, my brother Nick & my mommy – who is the person who does all of my pageant stuff with me! I’d also like to thank Miss Lynn, Misty Carson, my sponsors & my State Director Matt. Most of all, I’d like to thank my Great-Grandmother – who passed away just a few weeks ago. She was my biggest fan. Without her support, my year would not have been possible. It is to her I dedicate my year. I love you Great-Grandma & I miss you soooooo much!

Hello 2010 Contestants & Families!
Wow, this year has really flown by, it seems like only yesterday that my reign began! While I am saddened that my reign as Miss South Carolina Junior Preteen has come to an end, I am excited for the opportunities and excitement that awaits the 2010 queen!
This year I have traveled throughout the state of South Carolina participating in parades and festivals and volunteering for many different organizations and community groups. We participated in the First Ladies Walk for a Cure, and raised over $1500 for “The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation”. I also was a principle cast member and featured soloist for “A Nutcracker Fantasy” biannual fundraiser for our local children’s shelter. My sister queen Stephanie and I also joined up for the “March for Babies” in Columbia, SC this spring.
My family and I enjoyed our trip to sunny California for the National pageant. Seeing Disneyland decorated for the holidays really set the mood for a fantastic week! We enjoyed a tour of Hollywood Boulevard, the American Girl Doll store, and the famous Santa Monica Pier! It was even more beautiful than in the movies and on TV! The National pageant was a fantastic experience, well organized and full of excitement.
My year could not have been possible without the support of my family and friends. They have always been my number one fans and I am lucky to have them in my life. Thank you so much for believing in me, I love you!
As my year comes to an end, I take with me a lifetime of fond memories that I will always treasure. As you compete this weekend, please remember that each and every one of you are winners. Like Walt Disney once said, “All dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” I hope that you enjoy this week at NAM, and leave with new friendships and memories of a lifetime!

Dear Friends, Family and Contestants,
With my reign as your National American Miss South Carolina Pre-Teen coming to a close, I look back on all the amazing experiences that I have had over the past year. The pageant in Greenville coupled with the trip to Nationals in California and having the opportunity to help out my community have been special and have had a huge impact on my life. There are no words to describe how much this year meant to me and how it has allowed me to grow as a young woman. I never imagined that such great opportunities were in store for me and are available for each young lady that participates in this pageant.
This last year has brought many amazing opportunities. The trip to Los Angeles with my entire family spending quality time traveling, going to Disney the most magical place on earth. People asking to take my picture, talk to me and ask for my autograph I felt like a princess. I loved the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with everyone sharing memories and enjoying fellowship. The food and the company I shared were blessings that I will never forget. I met many wonderful girls that I viewed as friends, not competitors.
Giving up my crown this weekend will be a bittersweet experience, but with the sadness of passing my title down also comes the joy that another young lady will get the chance to experience the unbelievable thrill of representing the wonderful state of South Carolina. The most important advice I can give each of you this weekend is to have fun and don’t hold back. Show your personality in everything you do and remember that each of you are SPECIAL. This is a great opportunity to make new life long friends and always remember the most important thing is that every girl is a winner and never give up on your dreams.
I am excited to get to know each of you this weekend. Take advantage of the time together, and if you need anything I would be honored to help you. Each of you are beautiful, inside and out.

Cailee Calabrese is the National American Miss North Carolina Princess Queen. As you can see above she is one busy kid. Her activities this year have taken her from the national pageant in Disneyland to national talent competitions, and most of all her community service project of collecting DVD for soldiers.
She has spent the last ten months collecting DVDs for our troops serving overseas. Cailee will tell you that the reason she collected them is because “they protect us and she wanted to give a gift back for protecting us.” She collected $3,000 worth of DVDs and delivered them to “Give to the Troops” organization on November 14, 2009. Cailee is now a permanent volunteer and will receive a special volunteer award signed by the President of the United States at the end of the year for her contribution. It was very touching to see so many people volunteering their time to pack Christmas stockings and the essentials such as food, toiletries, and children including Cailee making cards to thank them and wishing them a wonderful holiday.
One of the most touching encounters of the day was to see the wall with all the stars that signified those who lost their lives. The dark wall was for the troops serving in Iraq and the blue wall was for the soldiers who lost their live in Afghanistan. Cailee has a long history of family who currently serves or has served including her dad who served with the United States Air Force.

Farewell Speech of Cailee Calabrese – North Carolina National American Miss Princess
I cannot believe how fast this year has gone. Never did I imagine that my name would be called as the North Carolina National American Miss Princess. It has truly been an honor and a wonderful opportunity. My year started as volunteering for the American Red Cross “Run for the Red.” I had such a wonderful time when I attended the Maryland state pageant reigning and meeting new friends. One of things I did was to launch my own community project called “Movies for Military.” I distributed my movies and volunteered at the Give 2 the Troops organization, which was truly a wonderful experience to see and meet so many people donating time to put together care packages and make cards to send to our troops serving overseas. I launched my own project because “I wanted to give a gift back to them for protecting us.” I have learned the importance of giving back to the community, meeting new friends and to always be a positive role model for other girls.
Another highlight of my year was attending nationals and our trip to Disneyland and Hollywood. I enjoyed getting to meet so many girls from different states. I was proud to receive the award of National Photogenic, Community Achievement, Volunteer Service Award and 3rd runner-up for Most Promising Model. It is truly an honor to receive those awards with so many wonderful other girls. Thank you Matt and the wonderful staff at National American Miss organization for the greatest experience a girl my age could have. Lastly, I would like to thank my mom and dad for always loving and supporting me.

This year has been the most amazing year a girl could ever wish for. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people and make so many great friends! I attended the National pageant in sunny California with my beautiful sister queens and we had a BLAST! Not only did we have a day in Disneyland and tour Hollywood, we got to go shopping on Rodeo Drive! Wow!!! I also got to represent NAM and our beautiful state of South Carolina at various pageants and parades and Open Calls. I will never forget this great year I’ve experienced with National American Miss!
